Our Choral Tradition  

The Parish of Harpenden is blessed with an abundance of musical talent, dedicated to the glory of God.

St Nicholas

At St Nicholas, we have three choirs:

• a boys’ choir established in Victorian times
• a girls’ choir which was founded in 2009 and
• an excellent adult choir made up of sopranos, contraltos, counter-tenors, tenors, baritones and basses.

We also have paid places for ten Choral Scholars aged 14-18 and an Organ Scholar.

The choirs sing at 9.30 Sunday Eucharist and 6.30 Choral Evensong and on Feast Days. We sing a Cathedral-style repertoire with anthems and choral settings (in term time). We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.
